Arbor Day Tree Giveaway

  • Saturday, Jan. 21, 10 a.m. – Bellview Library

Join us at WFPL as we celebrate Arbor Day with a free tree giveaway! This year’s Arbor Day event is in partnership with Escambia County UF IFAS Extension. Funding has been provided by International Paper and Escambia County Water Natural Resources Management. Registration is not required, quantities while supplies last. Limit of two trees per household.

 

Beginning Tai Chi for Adults

  • Friday, Jan. 6, 11 a.m. – Pensacola Library

Brain Teaser Scavenger Hunt

  • Wednesday, Jan. 4, 12 p.m. and 5 p.m. – Westside Library
Join us for a mind stretching gaming experience to celebrate Brain Teaser Month. Recommended for ages seven plus or for younger children with a parent/guardian’s assistance.

 

Celebrate Library “Shelfie” Day at Your Library

  • Wednesday, Jan. 25, 10 a.m.-4 p.m. – All WFPL Locations
Make a trip to the library and snap a quick selfie in front of your favorite author, subject or book. Submit your photo to Happening@mywfpl.com so we can share your "shelfie" on WFPL social media using #LibraryShelfieDay. All ages welcome to participate. *All photos submitted to Happening@myWFPL.com are agreeing to grant WFPL permission for all photo(s) to be used on WFPL social media and promotional items.

 

Chill Fridays for Teens

  • Friday, Jan. 6, 3:30 p.m. – Southwest Library
Drop by the Southwest Library on Friday afternoon and de-stress after a long week with art, games, meditation, yoga and houseplants – there’s something for everyone! Recommended for ages 13-18.

 

Crafternoons at Bellview Library

  • Saturday, Jan. 7, 12 p.m. – Bellview Library
Join us for an afternoon of arts and crafts as we make a Thumb Print Paper Snow Globe! All ages are welcome. Available while supplies last.

 

Crafternoons at Pensacola Library

  • Thursday, Jan. 5, 5:30 p.m. – Pensacola Library
Join us at Pensacola Library for a creative adventure at a new time! Crafternoons will be held the first Thursday of each month and all ages are welcome. All materials provided while supplies last. January's crafternoon activity will be DIY Flip Calendars.

 Create a Vision Board

  • Friday, Jan. 13, 4 p.m. – Bellview Library
It’s “Make Your Dream Come True Day”! How does one do that? It all starts with a vision. Bring your dreams and magazines, and we will provide the rest. Open to all ages.

 

Fairy Light Stars

  • Tuesday, Jan. 10, 11 a.m. and 5 p.m.
The cold winter months can be dark and dreary. Add some light back into your life with a fairy light star craft!

 

Find-It-Out-Fridays Bricks and Flicks

  • Friday, Jan. 6, 3 p.m. – Tryon Library
Join us for a showing of “Paws of Fury: The Legend of Hank,” release date 2022, rated PG with a running time of 97 minutes. Underdog Hank must be the town samurai to save the day...and cats! Enjoy popcorn and after the movie build something cool with LEGOS.

 

Friends of West Florida Public Library Big Winter Book Sale

  • Friday, Jan. 27, 3 - 7 p.m. – Pensacola Library
  • Saturday, Jan. 28, 9 a.m. - 5 p.m. – Pensacola Library
  • Sunday, Jan. 29, 9 a.m. - 3 p.m. – Pensacola Library
Join the Friends of WFPL for their Winter Book Sale! Friday is the Advance Sale at $5 admission (free admission for members of the Friends of the WFPL). Saturday is free admission and Half Off Day. Sunday is $7 bag sale day.

 

Game Day

Do you love to play board games? We will have a variety of games for you to choose from such as UNO, Labyrinth, Bingo and more!

 

January Scavenger Hunt

  • Monday-Friday, 10 a.m.-7 p.m., Saturdays, 10 a.m.-4 p.m. – Bellview Library
Join us in the Children's Area and find the hidden pictures of winter-related objects as part of our monthly Scavenger Hunt! Children can receive a sticker upon completing the Scavenger Hunt!

 

Jazz by the Book

  • Tuesday, Jan. 17, 1 p.m. – Tryon Library
Join premier saxophonist Joe Occhipinti, one of Pensacola and the Gulf Coast’s musical legends, as he and his small jazz ensemble enliven your afternoon with classic jazz favorites.

 

Kids Book Club

  • Friday, Jan. 27, 11 a.m. and 5 p.m. – Molino Library

No Sew Blankets

We will be making soft, warm blankets to take the chill off this winter season. No thread is needed! The library will supply all the needed materials.

 

Pensacola Opera at the Library

  • Saturday, Jan 21, 1:30 p.m. – Pensacola Library
  • Saturday, Jan. 28, 1:30 p.m. – Molino Library
Join representatives from the Pensacola Opera at West Florida Public Libraries for a special adaptation of the Bremen Town Musicians. Recommended ages for these performances are preschool to fourth grade.

 

Perdido Muscogee Tribe

  • Wednesday, Jan. 4, 1 p.m. – Pensacola Library
  • Wednesday, Jan. 18, 1 p.m. – Pensacola Library
Join us as members of the Perdido Muscogee Tribe perform dances and drumming in addition to demonstrating Native American traditions like finger weaving, wire wrapping and more!

 

Pirate, Monster and Dragon Party

  • Saturday, Jan. 14, 1:30 p.m. – Pensacola Library
Do any of your favorite stories have pirates, dragons and monsters in them? Then the perfect crafts and games await you at Pensacola Library. Costumes are encouraged!

 

Pop-Up Desk Organizer

Come grab your STEAM Passport to keep track of all things STEAM! Stop by the Children's desk to pick up your copy, attend all the STEAM programs and you can collect a stamp on arrival, and at the end of the month win prizes!

 

The Study Spot for Teens

  • Tuesday, Jan. 3, 3:30 p.m.- Southwest Library
  • Saturday, Jan. 14, 1:30 p.m.- Southwest Library
  • Wednesday, Jan. 18, 3:30 p.m.- Southwest Library
Come to the library to study, work in groups, complete homework, and do other quiet projects while enjoying snacks. Recommended for ages 13-18.
