Allison is a twenty-six-year veteran in the education field, with over a decade dedicated to school leadership positions. She is also fluent in Spanish. Since 2013 she has been the middle school head at Doane Academy in New Jersey. She holds a Bachelor of Arts from Middlebury College and a Master of Science, Secondary Education from LeMoyne College.

Dr. Hirstein says, “After a long search to find the best candidate for the School, we are thrilled that Ms. Baratta will be joining the Pirate Ship. Every day our goal as school leaders is to create a culture of constant improvement, and Ms. Baratta’s background and commitment to middle school-aged children will be instrumental in meeting and exceeding that goal.” Ms. Baratta believes in the thoughtful use of technology in education and makes a concerted effort to guide this special age group socially, emotionally and academically. She says, “Middle school students are such a unique group. This is a time when they grow exponentially, and we’re not just here to get them ready for high school. As educators, we’re here to help them discover and nurture their unique gifts as they reach their full potential.”

Among other achievements, Ms. Baratta has developed curriculum tracks that focus on health, wellness, global language,  leadership and integrated humanities. She concludes, “From the moment I stepped on campus, I was touched by the warm welcome from parents, students, teachers and staff. Every aspect of my experience thus far has been so positive and affirming. I am thrilled to trade my snow boots for sandals and to become part of Saint Edward’s School and the Vero Beach community, and I especially look forward to getting to know the families that make this school so special.”
