A conversation with foreign policy adviser to President of Azerbaijan, Hikmet Hajiyev
Thursday, November 12, 2020
8:00 AM 9:00 AM
Foreign policy adviser Hajiyev discusses talks in Washington, Baku’s position on the conflict, and the prospects for establishing a true ceasefire and finding a negotiated solution to the Nagorno-Karabakh issue.
War has once again broken out in the South Caucasus between Armenia and Azerbaijan. Ceasefires brokered by Moscow and Washington, four and two weeks back, have been violated regularly. Last week, Armenian Foreign Minister Zohrab Mnatsakanyan and Azerbaijani Foreign Minister Jeyhun Bayramov resumed talks in Geneva.
On Thursday, November 12, Hikmet Hajiyev, foreign policy adviser to President Aliyev of Azerbaijan, joins Eurasia Center Director Ambassador John Herbst for a one-on-one conversation regarding what is happening on the ground, the status of the talks in Geneva, Baku’s position on the conflict, and the prospects for establishing a true ceasefire and finding an immediate negotiated solution to the conflict.
