RED HILL UNITED METHODIST CHURCH: The World Trade Organization Dispute Settlement Mechanism and the Future of World and Agricultural Trade to be held October 26

Zz

Red Hill United Methodist Church issued the following announcement.

Monday, October 26, 2020

9:00 AM  11:00 AM

The Donald Trump administration’s reluctance to support the appointment of new members to the World Trade Organization (WTO) appellate board has thrown the WTO dispute settlement mechanism into disarray. As a result, the WTO agreements that underpin the global trading system are at risk.

This event will feature perspectives from former Chief Agricultural Negotiator Darci Vetter and Ambassador David O’Sullivan. Their remarks will be followed by comments from a distinguished panel of experts, including Chad P. Bown from the Peterson Institute, Simon Lester from the Cato Institute, Jennifer A. Hillman from Georgetown University, and AEI’s Joseph W. Glauber, with AEI’s Vincent H. Smith as moderator. The participants will discuss the current challenges facing the WTO dispute settlement mechanism and explore the implications for the broader issue of widespread WTO reform.
