During the first quarter of 2026, Marianna Nursing and Care Center was identified as the county’s third largest nursing home based on figures from the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services (CMS).
The facility maintained 120 available beds, which is seven fewer than the Jackson County average for the same period. On average, it served 101.9 residents per day during those months.
The CMS awarded Marianna Nursing and Care Center an overall 4 out of 5 rating, surpassing the Florida state nursing home average of 3.3.
Throughout the quarter, Marianna Health and Rehabilitation was the largest nursing home in Jackson County with 180 beds, and Graceville Health Center was second with 147 beds.

U.S. Census Bureau estimates indicate the nation’s older adult population is continuing to grow while younger age groups shrink. Between 2020 and 2024, Americans age 65 and older rose by 13%, while the population under age 18 declined by 1.7%. The older adult demographic in the United States has surged over the last century from 4.9 million in 1920 to over 61 million in 2024.
Research published in 2021 estimates that about half of adults in this age category, or roughly 28 million people, are likely to require long-term care and support, and more than one-third may eventually need nursing home services.
“Living a long life is something that many of us want and could get,” said Jesse Slome, executive director of the American Association for Long-Term Care Insurance, an education-focused group. “But when we live a long life, the chances of us needing long-term care increase exponentially. But when you need that type of care, there are limited options.”
