The Food and Drug Administration (FDA) conducted an inspection at Sturgeon Aquafarms II in Bascom on Feb. 27 to assess foodborne biological hazards, according to data posted on the FDA’s website.
The FDA’s final report stated Sturgeon Aquafarms II was not required to make any changes to its managing operations.
Facilities nationwide are routinely inspected by the FDA to ensure both working conditions and products meet regulations established by the agency to enhance public health. Results of these inspections are then released for public view.
According to its website, the FDA is a federal agency that oversees the safety and quality of human and animal pharmaceuticals, biological products, medical devices, and tobacco products.
